Italian proposals (in chronological order): restauro moderno promoted by camillo boito, restauro historico luca beltrami, restauro scieniico - giovannoni. 1880s, promotes methodology of restoraion: thorough study of building and modiicaions, criical judgement what to conserve/remove, establishment for criteria for intervenion case by case, disinguish original normal state from actual state. Philological restoraion buildings as documents that relect history. Builds on guiseppe valadier"s theories of archaeological restoraion. Combines accurate and scieniic approach (respect of remains + modern stabilizaion) Theory of restoraion: repair and restoraion which combine the preservaion of historical, spiritual and aestheic values of the monument without renouncing its contemporary use. Eight principles: irst modern italian charter: difereniate style between new and old, difereniate building materials between new and old. 1: new intervenions for structural stabilizaion, suppress moldings and decoraive elements in new, exhibit removed materials nearby during restoraion.
