Wolf of wall street: always in search of more money, willing to sell anything for money (weed), willing to stomp over anyone to make more money. Gender based minimum wages abolished in all provinces 1974. Bill 5- unilaterally withdrew right to strike for public sector workers: supreme court rules- the charter includes a stand alone right to strike. Meaningful collective bargaining happens when there is legitimate threat of workers withdrawing their labour. Collective right to strike affirms dignity and autonomy of employees in their working lives. Legislation is overbroad and impairs workers" rights more than necessary. Must be a meaningful dispute resolution mechanism available for essential workers. Consequence of capitalism: alienation: alienated from the means of production itself, workers are alienated from what they produce- work product belongs to capitalists, workers are alienated from the work task itself- fragmented. Generation jobless: students graduating in debt with no job, technology replacing people in the workplace, competitive pressure, experience is a necessity.
