Research ethics: code of morality governing research involving human participants, study of environmental activists who sometimes break the law ethically, what should you do, spend a while with a community, get their permission. Keep it confidential, but then you notice them break the law often. Who should benefit? (the researcher always ends up benefiting: we can never guarantee that we are acting in an ethical way. A design has been made, but there are still people that disagree. Consent sing a paper with all the info outlined. Where did these guidelines come from: tuskegee syphilis study, us public health service, 1932, determine the natural course of syphilis, 399 poor black men, alabama 1932-1972, researchers at the public health service wanted to understand why. So they got 399 illiterate poor black men. They gave them a consent form with little to no description on the paper. The standard treatment was heavy metal, which never really helped.
