Document Summary
Most scientist believed (erroneously) that races were real and objective subdivisions of homo sapiens based on a combination of unalterable physical and genetic characteristic such as: Dominated ideas about race and racial purity, superiority and inferiority. Posited natural categories on hierarchy established by god or nature. In 1868 ernst haeckel"s naturliche schopfunsgeschichte was published. This image was used to represent haeckel"s depiecti. Note the only women depicted in this representation is a women of european descent. There was an ideological tool use to racialized these people. Having this hierarchy made them become racialized and below others. An ideology that maintains that one race is inherently superior to another. Includes processes of racialization which can be negative and/ or positive (positive for people defined as white ) includes colour symbolisms of black and white, which get attached to human groups. Racialized is not natural it is prejudice (not the same as racism)
