Examples of different social values or rules for behaviour (norms) that people are socialised into in different cultures: food culture, meal times, road rules. 1: functionalists argue socialization allows each individual to become well functioning members of society. Informal agents: the social institutions that help turn people into functioning members of society, family, education, peer group, mass media. Subtle socialization children"s stories like sleeping beauty portray women have meaningful lives in the world by being brought alive by relationships with men.
