Used to make human tissues skin, heart, etc. 1952 briggs + king extracted nucleus from advanced frog embryo, added to frog egg did not develop. Derived from the greek word klon meaning twig or slip. 1981- willadsen cloned a live lamb from immature sheep embryo cells. 1995- ian wilmut and keith campbell cloned identical lambs from 9 day old embryo cells. 1997- wilmut et al. cone dolly using udder cells from an adult ewe (dolly is sheep) 1998- wakagsma + yanageinache clone mice from adult mouse cells. No successful cloning of primates to date using scnt. Cloned from adult mammary cell of an ewe.
