Document Summary

* tests for this course will be difficult, you will need to know a lot of material so study thoroughly with enough time. In darwin"s time scientists time did not have good understanding of genetics, therefore did not have good understanding of inheritance. Tried to figure out how traits were passed down: One inherits units of heredity (now called genes) from both parents . Those units then blend together and are transmitted to offspring. E by natural selection requires variations and this variation would be impacted if genes would blend together. And new sport - mutation would be blended away before proliferating. Ex. being extra tall; advantage by helping reach more food, based on blending inheritance any procreation with an extra tall and medium/small etc. then they would be kind of tall or medium and extra tall would be diluted down. Unless other mutation came up you would not see any more extra tall people.
