Cues to decepion (verbal-semanic leakage and nonverbal); human lie detectors; lie detecion tools. Verbal: semanic leakage (has to be consistent in statements) Eyes: blinking, avoiding eye contact, pupil dilaion (are involuntary; have to be careful bc it could be from nervousness) Body language: fewer illustrators (using hand to show let ), less idgeing. Micro expressions: atempt to conceal felt emoion resuling in involuntary emoional leakage. Masking smiles: feel one way but trying to express another; smiles easiest to produce (common in decepion; negaive emoions) *only secret service agents performed beter than chance. Study: examined micro expressions in genuine vs faked emoions. Viewed emoions and asked them to respond with a genuine or fake emoion. Micro expressions occurred more oten in decepion expressions (but also occurred in truthful accounts and rarely occur over full face) Negaive emoions were more diicult to falsify than happiness. Micros only occur in 2% (of the ime) of expressions.
