Semantic leakage control: can you control your information leakage to lie properly. Kids can conceal the physical location of an object. Most lies are for concealing our own thoughts rather than objects. 3,4,5 yr olds ability to conceal their personal preference. Chose one sticker from most liked and disliked categories. Dark blue puppet: never chooses the one you like bc he doesn"t want you to be sad. Light blue: always chooses sticker you want bc doesn"t care if you"re sad. They should lie about their preference to the light blue puppet. And tell the truth about their preference to the dark blue puppet. In terms of concealing one"s interests or preferences: 3 yr olds failed to misinform or withhold info. 4 and 5 yrs were capable of using verbal deception to conceal their internal thoughts. Some kids physically stole the sticker from the mean monkey; and there was a decrease in physical obstruction with age.
