Important for cerebellar control, adjustments and modifications of posture and skeletal muscle response. Can cause vomiting when stimulated (slow and or repetitive motion sickness vor adjustents), to temporal activation allows for awareness of dizziness: 8th cn (utricle sac) Goes to lateral vestibular nucleus of the medulla lateral vestibuospinal tract (spinal cord) Important for reflexive adjustments of musculature th cn (semicircular canals: 8. Superior and medial vestibular nucleus of the medulla oculomotor nuclei (nerves 3,4,6) Important for controlling involuntary eye movement during movement (walking) Allows for vestibule ocular reflex vor (when impaired, vision is blurred while moving) Mechanical senses respond to pressure, bending or other distortions of a receptor. Transduces mechanical info through pressure and bending hair cells on body. Accomplished by mechanoreceptors (movement of corpuscles and disks)
