The second sex covers a lot of material. Women being associated with other has a longer history associated with consciousness. She looks at human and animal biology and tries to get back to the essential question, are two sexes necessary in human production. When it comes to the essence of human beings there are two things that define humans, we all have physical bodies, and we all have a sense of mortality. The knowledge of mortality troubles us, because we wonder what happens in the afterlife. Doesn"t mean we need sexual differences, hermaphrodite, biological diff are not that straight forward.
