Prime minister has far more control in the canadian political system rather than the u. s president in the us government: head of state- governor general, head of government prime minister, provincial government pm premier. Pm occupies three simultaneous roles: head of government, head of political party, member of parliament. A way in which you can maintain party discipline. Pm can overrule cabinet and caucus (from party that are in government) cabinet and party caucus important decision making bodies. Can overrule caucus and cabinet but must be wear y of rebellion. Control over patronage (: rewarded for political support) appointments. Can appoint senators, and ambassadors (basically a treat for obliging)
