Rudolf laban; austrian dance instructor designed a framework for analyzing movement: he traveled around a lot in europe and worked with british education system to come up with this framework. What happened when these teachers moved over: before, they were more military focused movements. Concepts [explanations below : body awareness, spatial awareness, quality [effort, relationships, this gives direction and progression to the work, ex. object manipulation. Themes: basic idea or core that runs through a lesson or unit. Sub-theme: a further division of a theme: ex. objects with height. Body awareness: defines what the body can perform, the shapes it can make, how it can balance, an how weight is transferred to different body parts: ex. Shapes the body makes many different kinds, which body part leads, how is your body forming, etc. Space awareness: where the movement takes place.
