Phil 1f90 - lecture 4 - god and problem of evil. We can know enough about god"s essential qualities to worship him. Judeo-christian (and muslim) god is a personal being, a loving and caring one, an anthropomorphic one, and possesses infinite power and knowledge. In christianity, god is father, son, and holy spirit, meaning god would be both (and paradoxical) God is a being with all perfections, existence is a perfection, therefore god exists. The world is cause and effect, therefore there needs to be a first cause (design) Moving from observation that universe and humanity is ordered, and is so perfect that it requires a creator. Bertrand russell says that god could have designed a much better universe if he was all powerful. William paley (1743-1805) imagine an aboriginal walking through the jungle and finding a pocket watch, not knowing anything about it.
