The need to organize and relate information that has come before and after. There are conventions or habits in every language. Such as hey how are you i"m fine even if you don"t care how the other person is doing or you are having a horrible day. Spoken and written discourse patterns are different. Some of those choices are restricted and some are free. Different grammatical choices have different communicative results. Can describe spelling, sounds, part of speech, meaning. I like my tea strong is okay but i like my tea powerful is not. Certain words go together like tea/coffee and strong. I hope this suits you makes sense but i hope you are suited by this does not. Some words only fit with certain grammar structures. We can describe certain language aspects such as. Choices made for the above three things affect our message. Teaching language (grammar, lexis, pronunciation etc) through skills (reading, writing, listening etc)
