Related to trade unions rights, workers" rights, social reform. These were questions faced by european labour movement and socials in late 1800s and early. Goal may just be to raise platform to bring up issues to public. Wants to work with traditional parties within electoral politics. These traditional parties sometimes do appeal to labour movement. Ex/ john a mcdonald and trade unions act. Ex/ free trade by liberals was appealing to farmers specifically. Individuals running under banner of liberalism and labourism. Before 1974 beside the candidate"s name was occupation rather than party affiliation. Idea is workers should elect other workers; that only workers could adequately represent workers and their interests. If everyone has a fair shot, then those who work hard are able to get ahead. Won 11 seats in 1919 provincial election. Made coalition in ufo (united farmers of ontario) who had 45 seats. Only governed for one term and did not accomplish much.
