We move from a primary focus on the cognitive domain where we were looking at general human learning processes and learning styles and strategies to the affective domain. As brown says, the affective domain is difficult to describe scientifically. A large number of variable are implied in considering the emotional side of human behaviour in sla and sl learning. In a study in seoul (moon, 2013), 65% of the children had negative attitudes towards english. Self esteem, attribution theory and self-efficacy, willingness to communicate, inhibition, risk taking, anxiety, empathy, extroversion and introversion. Personality development involves the growth of a concept of self, acceptance of self, and reflection of self as seen in interaction with others. As human beings we define ourselves and find acceptance in expressing that self in relation to valued others. The anthropologist malinowski argued that all humans have a need for phatic communion.
