Children uses two strategies to organize their stories: centering- least sophisticated. Linking similar things together; may put the in temporal sequence. Linking things together because they are similar: chaining; more sophisticated. Events lead directly from one to another. Cause and effect relationships: younger children at the age of 2 primarily using centering, half of the kids use both as they get older, at the age of 5, the majority would use centering and chaining. Narrative levels: heaps: dogs wag their talls and bark.
