Category specific arousal: showing sexual arousal to the categories of ppl one prefers to have sex with. Men are more likely to show category specific arousal. Chivers et al (2004) found that women tend to be aroused by videos depicting female-female sexual activity. They concluded that: women are less category-specific in their arousal. Why women responsive to both men and women (bisexual. Women have object of desire self-consciousness (odsc); so, project self-onto (identify with) attractive/aroused/pursued women. Women often interested/aroused to models as objects of desire in beauty/fashion (because often have odsc in sex/romantic fantasies) Prevents injury to the genitals, needed some arousal.
