There was no need to leave small town, industrial revolution people could go faster and see more. No longer satisfied with one show on the stage. The time when people are inventing and films are invented. Society has changed and is now ready for cinema. Life is faster therefore something is needed for entertainment. Single men and workers coming to the city. Whatever time left, very little, they needed something relaxing b/w work and sleep. You could stay for one show or two. Good when you have little time for entertainment/relaxing. The attractions of one day could be: comedian, short film, song/dance number, short film. You just come when you like and leave when you like. You can project a set of still pictures and get a moving picture out of it.
