Spicer: orpheus (directed by jean cocteau) movie, the beats (a movement. Journalists gave them this name to make sense of them. It is impossible to know someone by just reading one thing. You need to immerse yourself in it: poetry does(cid:374)"t al(cid:449)ays ha(cid:448)e to follo(cid:449) the rules, to understand poets you need to speak their language, to spicer single poems were like one night stands. There is no relationship with the viewer because it ends so quickly. In reading poetry you are in communication with the author: spicer started making poem books, he is difficult but he wants you to love him. You are not really yourself when you create. It is just things that come out of you letting things flow: spicer thought that inspiration came from the martians. He uses this metaphor to explain muses: you need furniture in your head so that the martians can rearrange it.
