Document Summary

An anxiety during the romanticism period because people didn"t know what to do with their literature. When you see a poet talking about song birds they are actually talking about. Caged bird singing to the moon (sonnet): is her, she is trapped. The bird is singing to the moon, the moon is her audience but it is not hearing her and if it does it doesn"t say anything back. Is the song bird"s song actually sad or is it the way she is interprets it. She hears a song and can only hear it as sad because she is a poet. No matter what you"re writing about you are writing about yourself. The choices made in a poem are made by the writer. (all writing is autobiographical) Pay attention when you see someone reading or writing in a poem. The poem is telling you how to read or write it. Citation/ quotation: look at them to see a pattern.
