Engl2p80 the use of petrarchan poetry changes as the play progresses. Act 1 dramatizes romeo as the conventional petrarchan lover. Shakespeare gave juliet more original poetry than romeo. But like romeo, through her hyperbole, she positions him as the center of her world and turns his night into day: the world created by love poetry is much smaller than the woods in. Nothing, names are arbitrary and they have no connection to what they name which will exist as what they are no matter what you call them. A rose will remain what it is no matter what you call it. By changing his name shell change his social identity and eliminate the problem by changing his name. she wants to change the world by using her language. Juliet here is inviting romeo to make love to her and one supposes that she will doff her name as well and take romeo instead.
