CHYS 3P47 Lecture Notes - Lecture 7: Doorbell, Stimulus Control, Tantrum
Document Summary
Stimulus control - the degree of correlation between the occurrence of a particular antecedent stimulus and the occurrence of a subsequent response. If you were asked to touch your head, imitate a response. If you do the same thing, you have a good stimulus control of that behavior. Good, strong or effective stimulus control refers to a strong correlation between the occurrence of a particular response; this is, when the stimulus occurs, the response is likely to follow. How we respond to particular stimuli (do we actually follow what we are asked to do) Which stimuli in our environment have control of our behavior. Example: when mommy is present, child will not hit her brother, but will share her toys, child engages in positive behavior, when mommy is absent, the opposite occurs, hits brother & doesn"t share. Mother is revoking stimulus control over her child. S1: will hope it is your friend every time the door bell rings.
