Weschler"s intelligence scale for children (wisc iii) Historically thought to be a stable trait: they think you are born with a capacity and it is stable. Huge changes in iq as much as 20pts (up or down) just by being a teenager which is a lot. London cab drivers: when you drive a cab in london you have to be fast, problem solve with directions and memorize. More grey matter means better at problem solving. Diet lower in fat, sugar, and processed food correlated with an iq score up to 5 pts higher. 717 children living in urban and suburban neighbourhoods. Urban significant decline in iq between 6-11. Not due to mom"s iq, education, or marital status. When a kid is 129 it doesn"t qualify but 130 does. That"s why assessment needs to be done on a continuum because if they do the test again in a couple week, they may be 130 or higher then be considered gifted.
