Document Summary
10% of the population of children and youth. Abnormal (it is behavior that we don"t understand) Now we think things are genetic (back in the day thought people just were like that and no explanation) Brown vs. topeka board of education (1954) This case changed the society for special education. In the midwest town of topeka, kansas, a little girl named linda brown had to ride the bus five miles to school each day although a public school was located only four blocks from her house. Instead, linda attended the jim crow school (black school) Each individual has a right to a free education. We see a movement to inclusion from 1954 onwards. We need to accept everyone with special needs. Each province has its own education acts, regulations, and policies. Students with special needs should experience education in settings that allow them to achieve their individual goals in inclusive settings .
