Document Summary

In this aricle, aboud explored how children evaluated minoriies and whether this negaive aitude could be reversed. Frances believed that if young children were fed posiive informaion about minoriies early enough that a non-bias aitude could develop towards the out-group . I agree that there is a way to undermine this bias menioned by the researchers but it would be a long process and would take many generaions. The children"s bias could not be reversed but would develop a counterbias as they reached 7-8 years, which is when they begin to appreciate diferences more and realize unfairness of prejudice and discriminaion. The researchers are unaware of why young children are less recepive than expected to anibias messages. Strengths of this aricle included how to remove such a bias within children by introducing movies, storybooks, videos and class lessons about discriminaion, which helped change the outlook on minoriies as the children.
