Is being canadian pleasurable (do we enjoy being canadian) Canadian national identity can be mandated or it can be encouraged. It"s a mystery as to how national identities come to be or if they even exist. Certain objects giver us pleasure which makes us want to identify with them. What do these symbols actually represent vs what do we want them to represent. The feeling of organic community by people, often based on a sense of common history, ethnicity, race, language or culture. The institutions and agencies that administer and govern a particular population within a given geopolitical territory. The state traditionally has a relationship with the citizens.
