Document Summary

Unit 1:instrumental conditioning: the learning of a contingency behaviour and consequence. Early research on instrumental conditioning was often performed on non-human animals. Edward thorndike: cat in box experiment: conclusion= cat pull the string by accident the first time, but each following time the cats performance only improved a little bit. Therfore: the graph indicates a decreasing number of behaviours in relation to the number of increasing successful trials. This suggested that animals followed a simple stimulus-response type process with little (cid:272)(cid:396)edit fo(cid:396) (cid:272)o(cid:374)s(cid:272)ious(cid:374)ess the (cid:272)ats (cid:449)o(cid:396)k f(cid:396)o(cid:373) a p(cid:396)o(cid:272)ess of lo(cid:374)g t(cid:396)ial and error process of discovery. The law of effect: -behaviours with positive consequences are stamped in. Q:ex mike wants to increase on-time arrival behaviours in his class.
