Frustration-aggression theory: originally posited a very strong link between frustration (a negative emotion when progress towards a goal is blocked) and aggression. Predictors of magnitude: the more you want the goal, the more frustrated you will get and therefore the more aggressive you will be. In other words, the closer you are to obtaining the goal when you are blocked, the more frustrated you will be and the more likely it is that you will aggress. People (cid:449)o(cid:374)"t al(cid:449)a(cid:455)s aggress agai(cid:374)st the people the(cid:455)"re a(cid:272)tuall(cid:455) frustrated (cid:449)ith. There might not be anyone specific to blame or the person to blame might not be a safe person to aggress against. This is when displaced aggression comes into play (taking aggression out on innocent people) If the person has a good reason/excuse for blocking your progress, (cid:455)ou"ll pro(cid:271)a(cid:271)l(cid:455) still get frustrated but you are less likely to aggress against them.
