We are not bad at assessing whether someone is attracted to us. There are some systematic sex differences in the errors that are made when it comes to assessing attraction. Men tend to overestimate how interested a woman is in them romantically. For men, having a sexual partner (evolutionarily speaking) has more upsides than down sides.
