Rock n roll grew out of a number of other genres. Grew out of styles like country and western. Other genres that it grew out of were gospel, blues, bluegrass. Between 1920 and 1940 there was a massive upheaval. For one, the idea of teenager had(cid:374)"t e(cid:448)e(cid:374) e(cid:454)isted (cid:455)et. There was the end of the first world war, the baby boomers. The children of the baby (cid:271)oo(cid:373)ers had a lot to do (cid:449)ith ro(cid:272)k"s e(cid:454)pa(cid:374)sio(cid:374). Radio statio(cid:374)s also had to do (cid:449)ith ro(cid:272)k"s expansion. Before the war, the dominant music was swing. For a long time, if you recorded some music it would have been localized to the area you lived in. All previous styles before rock n roll were regional. Chicago blues (introduces electric instruments and microphones and pas) After the turn of the century, music was very much regional even though sheet music could be bought.
