LATI 3503 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Papillomaviridae, Viral Hepatitis, Adenovirus Infection
Document Summary
Viruses are infectious intracellular obligate parasite consisting of (dna and rna) enclosed protein coat called capsid. In some case, a membranous envelope may present outer to the capsid. Viruses can be classified based on the presence or absence of this envelope: non envelope viruses: e. g. herpes virus, influenza virus and chickenpox virus, envelope viruses: e. g. parvoviruses, adenoviruses and papillomaviruses, parvoviruses, are simplest dna animal viruses. The viral replication is dependent on functions supplied by replication of host cells or by coinfection of helper viruses: the only human pathogenic parvovirus, b19 and have tropism for red blood cell progenitors. Properties of parvovirus: the icosahedral, nonenveloped particles. Clinical finding: erythema infectiosum (fifth disease), the erythematous illness is most common in children of early age school and occasionally in adult. 1: the characteristic rash (slapped-cheek) appearance, the rheumatoid arthritis and the arthropathy may persist for weeks, month or years.
