BIOL 3553 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Mhc Class I, Dendritic Cell, Perforin
Document Summary
T-lymphocytes: have receptors (tcr) that are specific to one epitope, do not produce antibodies. ***all antigen presenting cells have mhc ii, all cells in the body have mhc i, mhc ii typically presents exogenous antigens, mhc i usually presents endogenous antigens. Induce apoptosis in cells infected with pathogens: produce cytokines telling adjacent cells to be vigilant. In normal cells: all nucleated cells in body degrade cellular proteins and load them onto groove of mhc class i molecules, these endogenous antigens are then delivered to outside of cell on. Mhc class i molecules: effector cytotoxic t-cells will not recognise endogenous self antigens. Il-7 is produced by bone morrow stromal cells to help b cells develop. Because the chain of the bcr isn"t long enough to reach the nucleus, ig-(cid:2009) and ig-(cid:2010) transmit the signal to the nucleus once the bcr binds an antigen. This signal changes patterns of genes expressed by b cell.
