FNSC2200 Lecture 4: L4 Ballistics
Document Summary
When ballistics can be used in investigation in crime. What a gunshot leaves and what it can tell in terms of label components of ammunition crime. Chemical substance (typically nitroglyceride) ready to be ignited. Sight device used to align aiming by eye. Barrel tube which projectile is released in high velocity = smooth/grooved on the inside. Muzzle end of the tunnel where projectile exits. Shotgun = batches of small projectiles /target wide area/ travel short distance / not rifle on the inside. Firearm action = mechanism that handles ammunition = mechanism that loads, locks, fire and extracts the cartridge has 4 diff action types: feeding, chambering, cocking, locking, firing, unlocking, extracting, ejecting. Any object propelled by the exertion of force = projectile. *there are also other projectiles with diff velocities. Cartridge case (metal) holds propellant, primer and the bullet. Bullet usually made from lead, expand on impact p10 bullet design fully jacketed soft point hollow point p11 rimfire vs centrefire.
