Monogenetic traits (mendelian traits) we are focusing on. Current medical research is focused on polygenetic traits. Complete penetrance = have the dna variation = will definitely have that trait. Partially penetrant might or might not get the phenotypic trait. Promoters before the start of transcription (core promoter). String of a"s at the end = stabilisers. Splicing where genes are divided ie. a single gene can give rise to more than one transcript. Initial transcript under-goes splicing to create a final piece of mrna modifications made to make it stable and transport to the cytoplasm for translation. Dna = exons (coding segment) and introns (non coding segments)
