Successful interviewing steps
Put people at ease - smile, appear warm, caring, genuine and professional
Speak clearly and slowly
Introduce yourself and your role
use positive non-verbal and verbal communication
Ensure confidentiality
Be client-centred - put them first
Use social discussion to 'get them talking'
Listen to their responses
Listening attentively
Listen to what the person tells you
Paraphrasing is critical
Probing
Sensitive (Do you mind me asking more about…?)
