Foundation vs performance nutrition: nutritional demands of activity, energy balance, major nutrients - cho, protein, fat, hydration, recovery, analysis and programming. Short duration/high intensity exercise: predominately from glycogen release from skm. Long duration/high intensity exercise: the longer you exercise the greater the contribution of fat as an energy source, endurance training promotes the burning of fat, and conserving of glycogen. 5 goals: meet energy and nutrient needs, achieve nutritional practises for good health, achieve and maintain optimal body composition and weight, promote recovery from training sessions, trial and fine tune comp foods and fluid combo. Fuel used by the body depends on the intensity and duration of the exercise, as well as the fitness and nutritional status of the individual.
