Document Summary
Drama and dance education already provide the safe and fair rules of social engagement. Ask them what they think the character/communicator is trying to do motivation/intention/consequence. Keep the focus on choices within the serious work of play. Laughter not necessarily insolence or response to ineptness. Cut activity and ask for advice: what might make my role more believable? . How might my moves communicate my idea better? . Again - keep the focus on choices within the serious work of a co-player (you!) --creating something that has not previously been done/enacted/performed before ( there is no one way ) is risky. --no authentic learning without capacity to fail that means risk! --overly safe = loss of discovery and authentic play. -- teaching to the test erodes dimensions of creativity and risk to flourish and guide a child"s learning. --symbolic communication systems spanning across real and imaginary contexts.
