ESH330 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Australian Curriculum
Document Summary
Four principles of effective drama and dance assessment: drama and dance learning assessment should be authentic and relevant to the art form. Not everything can be assessed by the written word! As anderson (2012) points out, "if we want to assess a critical response to a drama, a written response is appropriate. If we wish to assess improvisation skills, an improvisation exercise aligns most effectively with learning" (p. 120): drama (and/or dance) learning should assess the making and responding of drama (and/or dance) as an interaction rather than a separation. --we"ve discussed this in an implicit way throughout the semester. For example, in process drama, the responding to drama as an artform is totally entwined in the making of drama to communicate meaning. --don"t fall into a "process versus product" debate!! In primary and ec settings, it has no place. Like the issue with responding and making (above), it is an interaction not a separation.
