Document Summary

Creativity and intelligence: generally is ability to produce work that is both novel and appropriate, two criteria to judge something as creative novel and appropriate. Integration and intellectuality: aesthetic taste and imagination, decisional skill and flexibility, perspicacity, drive for accomplishment and recognition. Criticisms of divergent thinking: originality confounded with fluency, statistical rarity is ambiguous, uniqueness scoring penalises large samples, originality and fluency change with different instructions, may not relate to creativity. Self or observer rating scales: high correlation with personality, quick and easy to administer, high reliability, transparent items so easily faked. Ability scales: don"t correlate with personality measures, strongly related to intelligence, time consuming, more difficult to measure so less reliable, depends on knowledge so can"t be faked. Mental speed: galton began this type of research theory was the speed of mental processing is key component of intelligence, physical measurement of intelligence reduced to sensory acuity, head size and speed of reactions.
