Culture values, beliefs, customs, arts + other aspects of human thought/work, transmitted through generations, that characterize the people/groups of a given society + distinguish them from one another. The way in which a group of people solve problems/reconcile dilemmas (trompenaars) A toolkit of symbols, stories, rituals, worldviews that help people of a culture survive. Means by which people communicate, perpetuate and develop their knowledge and attitude towards life. Cross- cultural risk/opportunities where cultural miscommunication can put businesses at a risk/where cultural differences provide an opportunity for the business to learn and benefit. Cultural blunders: hitler ice cream in india, nike (usa) and sacred tattoos on clothes, pringles. Culture = fish out of water metaphor: only when we are out of the water do we understand the extent of our own cultural biases + assumptions. Shared by members of a group/defines membership of the group. Relative to each group/nationality; all perceive the world differently.
