Clauses:
Declarative – make statement/ proposition (form = subject, verb, object)
Interrogative – ask a question (OPEN form = any answer of who, what, when, where, how,
why – verb, subject)
CLOSED form (yes/no) – helping verb, subject, verb (object) – subject auxiliary inversion
Exclamative – express surprise (form = what/how + verb, object normal order)
Imperative – make command (form = bare infinitive of object/ complement)
Subjunctive – refer to suggestions, possibilities (form = conditional of if, were) (form =
mandative of clause + bare infinitive of verbs precede wish, demand)
