Top-down processing based on information in our long-term memory helps us to quickly organise perceptual experience. Conventional science: thomas kuhn - scientific paradigms and revolutions. A paradigm is a perspective, approach or frame of reference, as well as the group of researchers whose work adheres to this shared framework with respect to: Has a subject matter (general definition of the field and specific focal topics), methods, language and concepts, root metaphor, intellectual influences. Asking which paradigm is best? , or even which paradigm is true? is not likely to be answerable or useful. Asking what are the uses and limitations of each paradigm? is a better question.
