Physical activity and health!
First link between physical activity and health !
Jerry morsis experiment
•Conducted study on London bus drivers and conductors in the 1940 and 1950 to
observe the incidence of heart disease is the drivers vs conductors
•Incidence of coronary heart disease was higher in the drivers (2.7 cases per 1000)
•Incidence of coronary heart disease was lower in conductors (1.9 cases per thousand).
•Physical activity doesn't prevent disease but lowers the chances.
Some terms !
Primary prevention
•preventing the disease before it even happens
•Focus on people who do not have the disease and lowering their chances
Secondary prevention
•reduce the progression of the disease
•Focus on people with diagnosed disease or risk factors
Physical activity
•any bodily movement that produces by skeletal muscle that expends energy
Exercise
•A type of physical activity
•Involves planned, structured and repetitive movement, usually with the intent of
improving physical fitness
Physical fitness
•the ability to meet the demands of daily life safely and effectively without undue fatigue.
•Fitness components such as strength, speed, power, endurance, that relate to the ability
to successfully perform skilful activities and athletic events.

Document Summary
Primary prevention: preventing the disease before it even happens, focus on people who do not have the disease and lowering their chances. Secondary prevention: reduce the progression of the disease, focus on people with diagnosed disease or risk factors. Physical activity: any bodily movement that produces by skeletal muscle that expends energy. Exercise: a type of physical activity, involves planned, structured and repetitive movement, usually with the intent of improving physical tness. Physical tness: the ability to meet the demands of daily life safely and effectively without undue fatigue, fitness components such as strength, speed, power, endurance, that relate to the ability to successfully perform skilful activities and athletic events. Key component of cardiovascular disease is atherosclerosis: narrowing of arteries due to plaque build up, plaque build-up build to oxidation and in ammation associated with blood lipids being in and around the walls of the vessel.
