Document Summary

Lecture 9 neuromuscular strength, power, and strength endurance. Neuromuscular strength the ability of a neuromuscular system to exert force. Strength endurance the ability of a neuromuscular system to continuously perform successive exertions or many repetitions. Rate of force development the ability of a neuromuscular system to rapidly increase force from an initial low level of activation. Neuromuscular power the product of force and velocity of movement or the rate of doing work. Isometric strength has been shown to correlate with overall body strength. There is little evidence to suggest that an imbalance between agonist and antagonist muscle groups increases the risk of injury. Isokinetic testing is not used often in a practical setting because it has little functional transfer. Isoinertial tests, such as rm testing is much more common because there is a greater transfer into everyday life and sporting activities. Converting between multiple rm and 1rm is problematic.
