Helps people effectively use the best type of coping. Helps people process emotions, form a narrative around difficult experiences and habituate to the exposure so it no longer triggers stress/emotional responses. May increase distress as people actively remember, write about and reflect on potentially traumatic experiences. Support group based intervention procide direct social support along with potentially delivering other intervention components in group format, benefits psychological well being.
