Around 95 ad (likely the last of the nt) Isle of patmos because he was exiled there (modern day turkey but used to be asia) They just saw christians as part of the jews. Example: emperor nero and the great fire of rome. Everyone said that the emperor started the fire to get inspiration for his music, but he needed someone to blame. Rumours circulated that christians were eating children because they adopted them from the streets. Also rumours of incest amongst christians because they called each other brothers and sisters. Nero would burn christians on torches during parties. All scripture is intended for our instruction and understanding (2 tim 3:16) It is the blessed hope of the church (titus 2:11-13) We need to be people of the day (1 thess. 24:43: matt 24:43- son of man is coming at an hour you won"t expect.
