Focusing on broad organisational needs
●Everyone agreeing that the project has high value
●Criteria:
○Need for the project
○Funds are available
○Strong will to make the project succeed
Categorising IT projects
Project’s impetus (whether the project addresses)

●An opportunity/ a directive
Time Window : Some project must be finished in a certain time window or it is not valid
Overall priority of the project : Higher priority projects should be completed first
Financial analysIs of Project
Methods of determining the financial value of projects:
●Net present value (NPV) analysis
○Method of calculating the expected net again or loss by deducting all expected
future cash inflows and outflows to the present point in time
○Higher the better
