Crime prevention: effective approach to reducing crime. Community solidarity, class consciousness and equal access to resources are key features at this stage. This is achieved through demarcation of public and private space (comprising both real and symbolic barriers) so that the inhabitant"s or user"s sphere of influence and proprietorship is established: natural surveillance: seeking to keep intruders under observation.
